Hope you all will relish reading this. Kindly share your thoughts.
(Note: Please use your own discretion and do a patch test while following any advises because everyone's skin if different)

What is  Lavender oil ?
Lavender Oil is an essential oil produced by distillation of petals of English Lavender flower (Lavandula angustifolia).
It has flowery calming mild aroma which is very soothing and relaxing for mind and body. Thus is generally used in perfumes, soaps and bath salts.
Its is also used as antiseptic and pain reliever in alternative medicine.
Its another use is as solvent for oil paints :-)

What are its benefits ?
Calming properties

Anti itch for Bee sting/ bite
Used in aromatherapy for insomnia and stress
Relieves skin eczema condition
Eliminates hair dandruff
Prevents hair loss

Keeps the skin healthy and radiant
Relieves stress and calms the mind
Flavor booster for teas (Use special edible lavender oil only)
Expectorant (dilutes cough) helpful in Sinusitis

Make sure that your lavender oil is not another species or a hybrid (lavandin). Its should be organic and 100% pure.

How to use it ?
Lavender oil is pretty strong and thus should be used with a carrier (mild oil).
Examples are:
Jojoba Oil

Castor Oil

Mix 2-3 drops of Lavender oil in 1 teaspoon of carrier oil.

Any caution ?
Its shelf life is usually 2 years . Do check the manufacturing date.
Lavender oil is shown to have hormone side effects in young kids/teens specially boys
Lavender oil is proved cytotoxic (toxic to cells) and photosensitizing (leading to sunburn when exposed to sun). So do not apply before going out in the sun.
It may irritate skin if used directly or used more than recommended or in high concentration . This is not advisable for people with dry and sensitive skins.
Check for any allergies to it by doing a patch test on small area of skin and look for any reactions.
Stop using it if skin shows any reaction/irritation/redness/swelling/itching.
Please consult your doctor for its usage if your you are pregnant, nursing mother or undergoing any medical treatment

If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I love knowing your thoughts.
Have you tried using natural lavender oil for your skin? Did you benefit from it?
